One of the reasons why blogs are such a good idea and why I enjoy following blogs, especially those on the T-List, is because they are a great source of knowledge.  At ITB Berlin in March a number of T-List bloggers, including myself, sat on an expert panel and debated the role of blogs versus traditional journalists.  There was much discussion about whether citizen journalism would replace traditional journalism and about the credibility of user generated content.  My take has always been that the two will eventually find an equilibrium and that they may also feed off each other, one supporting... Read more »

This was originally posted by Jens Thraenhart at the Tourism Internet Marketing blog. Please be sure to leave your comments and secrets using the Contact Form on Jens’ blog. Tourism Marketing Blog contributor Claude Benard had the brilliant idea to reach out and ask experts to share their Travel Marketing Secrets and Tips - similar to the initative from Small Business Trends…but focused on travel, tourism, and hospitality marketing. The results will be shared on the Tourism Internet Marketing Blog, and will also be presented at the Phocuswright Bloggers Summit at ITB, in collaboration... Read more »

This post actually serves two purposes: Firstly this is a great little interview with Tom Botts from Hudson Crossing LLC. Tom moderated the Blogger Workshop at PhoCusWright Orlando 2007 and seemed to really enjoy himself. Thanks Tom! Secondly, my wife forwarded me a video that was hosted using a video sharing platform called Viddler. I hadn’t heard of Viddler before but, based on its Alexa ranking of 18,487 it must be a fairly popular platform. For the most part, it is not dissimilar to YouTube, BUT what really got me excited was the ability to embed comments directly into the video... Read more »

Congratulations to my friend and fellow T-List blogger, Jens Thraenhart on the re-launch of his TourismInternetMarketing.com blog. He worked with fellow hospitality blogger Chris Clarke to put together a Wordpress blog that is extremely well designed. I know that Jens was having a lot of issues with the performance of the previous version of the Tourism Internet Marketing blog so this new version is a welcome upgrade. Great job and I look forward to reading more great posts in 2008! http://www.tourisminternetmarketing.com Sphere: Related Content Read More →

I got so caught up in getting the “Tips from the T-List” site launched that I completely forgot to post anything about it. Well, the site is live now! You’ve probably already read about it from one of the other T-List authors. I think most of them have already blogged about it. Regardless, I’m pretty happy with the site and its features, which include: Profiles for all authors including links to all their blogs Links to all author’s RSS feeds so you can subscribe to the one’s you want right on the site. The four most recent posts for each author. A consolidated... Read more »

I had a chance to catch up with Kevin May, editor of the populat http://travolution.blogspot.com blog. I asked him what he thought of the Tips from the T-List book, the blogger workshop, and the conference as a whole. He had some great points. By the way, big thanks to Kevin for contributing to the book and for including the book as a download for the Travolution conference. Sphere: Related Content Read More →

Photo Credit: Vicky Brock The Blogger Workshop at the PhoCusWright Conference in Orlando was a huge success. Phil and I, miraculously, arrived at the conference a mere forty-five minutes before the workshop was to begin. Phil hurried to make sure the room was prepared while I connected with some of the expert panelists. The workshop began with an introduction of each of the panelists: Jens Thraenhart (Canadian Tourism Commission) William Bakker (Tourism BC) Kevin... Read more »

Well, it had to happen eventually. Thanks to the efforts of all the members of the T-List, the overwhelming support we got from the contributors, and the team at Rezgo, we have been asked to participate in the first ever Blogger Summit and Workshop at the PhoCusWright conference in Orlando. I have to give a big thanks to Jens Thraenhart without whom this project would have not been as widely publicized. Jens introduced the idea to many of his contacts around the World and promoted it through his T-List Facebook group. To give you a quick rundown on how quickly a diverse group can collaborate... Read more »

I am happy to report that the “Tips from the T-List” project is well under way and we are already receiving submissions. So far we have received submissions from France, the U.K., Netherlands, Canada, and the U.S. Many of the submissions are excellent, but we would remind contributors that the purpose of the book is to provide “Insider” experience and expertise in how online technology can benefit travel and tourism. If you are a general travel blogger for experience, it may make more sense to write a post about how your blogging experience or expertise has helped increase... Read more »
